I am going to be in Europe for a couple of weeks towards the end of this summer, and I was wondering if anyone out there could answer a few questions for me. 1) Does Oettinger sell their parts out of the factory? In other words, do they have a retail outlet there, or is it strictly wholesale? 2) Can anyone recommend a good speed shop for me to pick up some goodies for my A4? I am going to be in London, Switzerland, and Germany, so any suggestions in these areas would be most appreciated. Of course, a trip to Ingolstadt is on the agenda, along with the requisite stop at Quattro GmbH. Does anyone have any suggestion on mods available there that aren't available here? To sum it up, I don't want to miss this oppurtunity to pick up some unique mods for my car, so I am really just looking for some suggestions from those of you that live in Europe or are just well traveled. Mucho thanks in advance!
Bryan
99.5 1.8tQM

You should visit MTM who are located right near Ingolstadt. Motoren-Technik-Mayer are considered by many folks to be the *best* Audi tuners around. (The Managing Director, Dr. Ing. Mayer had a hand in the development of the 1.8T engine, and they are linked to Audi in some way. One of the European contributors to this forum says that they are actually Quattro GmBH, Audi's in-house customising subsidiary.) Here's a link to their WWW site should you wish to see what they have on offer (and I don't think that all of it is available from Hoppen Motorsport, who are their US distributor.)

You may want to ask Cameron about audi-related places to stop in on your trip to europe, he has been there quite a few times and might be able to give you some places.
Just incase you forget, remember that european A4s are different in quite a few ways than US A4s, and not just by weight and emissions standards either, so be careful on what you buy.
Most of all - sounds like a great trip with good destinations - I too will be heading over there at the end of july on a trip to France/Spain. I really enjoy visiting europe...
Hope you enjoy!
Marcus Frost
99.5 1.8TQM [On Order]

IMO London should be bottom of your shopping list, you're unlikely to find very much.
The Germans and Swiss are way ahead of the UK when it comes to mods and chipping.

Grant, UK
97 1.8SE Avant

Yeah, London is on the list for reasons other than Audi. I didn't really believe that I would find much there. Thanks, though.
Bryan
99.5 1.8tQM

By any chance do you have some examples of what is different there? I am most interested in aesthetic parts, as they are less likely to "fail" thousands of miles from their manufacturer. I don't want to pick up a new set of coilovers, for example, and have a bunch of grief getting warranty work done. Are the body panels much different there, or were you referring to more crucial things like suspension, etc.? Thanks for your input.
Bryan
99.5 1.8tQM
