Im bringing in the A4 for 1st service and was wondering about the wastegate rod issue.
First, there should be a service faq, so if anyone is up to it, we should get definitive answers on this supposed 21 point service at 5000 miles. The guy on the phone saids its basically just an oil change.
Second, the heat shield that they are supposed to put in to fix turbo wastegate breakage, does anyone have a part number and service code (the number audi gives to the dealers to say there is a problem with something - whatever thas called). How can I tactfully remind them to put this thing in?
Third, does anyone have part numbers for touch up paint? Some not so good parallel parker left his license plate imprinted on my bumper. A little harder and I could have read the numbers and letters. I just got his philips head screw marks. Santorin Blue. Big 2" scratch. It's never been that bad.
TSB Group 21-9801 for mid97-98. But supposedly in the archives they say its non-warranty.
I really want to know if they will check tosee if my wastegate is having trouble or not.
I'll check with them.

I don't think there is anyway to "check to see if if my wastegate is having trouble or not". This coming from someone who's on turbo # 2 due to a wastegate rod breaking. Basically, the wastegate rod breaks. I don't think there's anything the dealer can do to test the part or to inspect it for future breakage. Just cross your fingers that it doesn't happen to you.
Andy Hedin
'97 A4 1.8Tqms, Wett 1.0 Bar Chip, ABT Filter, Euro Headlights with
PIAA SuperWhite's, A!AvantGarde Grill, Smoked Side-Markers,
Clear Corner-Markers, Tint
Mailto:andy_hedin@hotmail.com
