Some friends just got their A4 Avant last weekend (I get my A4 sedan this weekend!) and have already had a problem with their remote. It seems that, intermittently, the car won't start after being unlocked by the remote. The car starts only after the driver's side door is unlocked by hand with the key. The dealer told my friends to just repeatedly unlock the car using the remote but that hasn't worked. Audi Roadside Assistance told them to unlock using the remote 8 times in a row, then wait 10 minutes before starting. That hasn't worked either.
Anyone else had a similar problem and/or know how to resolve this? Obviously a trip to the repair department will be made if necessary.

OK, maybe no one else has ever had this problem judging from the lack of replies, but as a public service here's the fix:
Put the key in the driver's side door, turn as you would to unlock the car, but hold it in the "turned" position for a few seconds.
This apparently resets the computer. In any event, the problem hasn't recurred. This solution came from the towing company (Ellison's in the bay area). Guess there must be a lot of A4s around here (no surprise from reading this board).
