I've searched the archives on this one, but didn't find the answer I was looking for. So here is my question:
Does it damage the paint of the A4 to wash it with high pressure water?
positive and/or negative experiences/views are very much appreciated !
And, what about the wheels, is the high pressure bad for your brakes ?
tia
Water pressure, if it's high enough, can cut through titanium (the metal, not the paint). So the issue is, not if the paint can withstand high pressure, but to what degree.
Just use common sense. Don't expect the pressure to lift road film or tar off your car. Pressures high enough to do that WILL damage the paint (and trim). If the velocity of the water leaving the nozzle makes it hard to hold the wand in your hand, make sure you keep the wand at least 18-24" from your car. And don't use the pressure sprayer on functional equipment under the hood.
You need to use a soft cotton cloth and mild detergent to remove road film--don't expect the washer to do it.
I've used pressure sprayers for many years on many different cars using these precautions and have never experienced any damage.
