Last night while cruising to a stop sign in 3rd gear, my previously healthy A4 decided to just totally shut down.....I had no power (not even my hazard lamps). I was around a blind corner in the middle of the road 20 yds from a stop sign. I was able to get a ride to my house some 5 mminutes away with the town police....I left my little brother with my car in the pitch black wearing a black jacket waiting with a black car
I callled Audi Roadside Assistance at 6:40. After waiting for 10- minutes I called AAA on my other line. I managed to line up a tow truck, give all my info etc. Hung up and guess what...I was STILL on hold with Audi. Grand total of 25 minutes on hold with my car and safety in jeopardy. VERY dissapointing..and Thank God for AAA.
Anyways no clue what happened to my car...will update once I hear fronm Audi....
Scott
98 A4 2.8QMS
Connecticut

i thought audi road side assistance actually used AAA for all its services. i wonder why it took so long for them to respond to your call. perhaps i shouldn't have canceled my AAA membrshp....
98.5 1.8tqsm

Basically the car just dies when this happens. They dont have one in stock and are ordering it overnight.

Audi's "Guranteed Roadside Assistance" left me stranded on the side of the road at midnight a few months ago. Called them, they called back one hour later and told me they did not have anyone to help me and I was on my own. This was in a fairly poulated suburb of Harrisburg, PA.
I had cancelled my AAA when I bought the car, and I was sorry I did. Joined AAA again the next week.
Ian
98.5 1.8TQMS

and because they use different contractors for different areas, their level of service is ALL over the map.
Keep AAA (get it if you don't have it) and upgrade to PLUS level. The tow truck driver told me this as I sat in his cab with my car on the flatbed behind us. Regular membership only covers very short tows; AAA Plus will tow 100 miles. Check into this now, before you need it.
My A4 had a little run-in with an unyielding curb a week or two ago -- messed-up the suspension. Anyway, I called Audi Advantage, and the guy dispatched a wrecker. I reminded him that I have a quattro, and therefore had to have a flatbed truck. He said no problem. Well, a regular truck shows up about an hour later. I call back, get the same guy, and he apologizes profusely. He dispatches another truck. About 45 minutes later, the flatbed shows up.
So, I go with the wrecker driver to the dealer (on the other side of town), as instructed by Audi Advantage. We get to the dealer's lot, and the driver asks "what now?" It's about 2:00 am, and the dealer's lot is, of course, locked-up. I call Audi Advantage back, get the same guy, and he apologizes profusely.
He explains that if the wrecker driver doesn't have a key to the dealer's lot, they'll pay to have it stored in the wrecker's storage facility overnight and then re-towed to the dealer the next morning. Evidently, the guy assumed that the wrecker would be able to get into the dealer's lot.
Needless to say, everything worked-out in the end, but it seems to me that Audi Advantage could have saved some money by communicating a little better with the wrecker service -- especially given the Houston distances involved in towing my car all around town.
Eric
(still waiting for my car to be fixed)
At least according to the Guaranteed Mobility pamphlet I just received. AAA provides the service for Audi.
Kirk
