I have a 98 A4 (1.8TQMS) and everything was going just fine until almost 1000 miles ago, before 10000 miles service. (current mileage 10700). From that time, 2-3 minutes after starting the engine, at any time and under any weather conditions, there is a very disturbing noise coming from the right front of the car, something like DOC-DOC-DOC... It is quite like a diesel engine or an old beetle and it is only heard when the engine is idling, e.g. in traffic lights, and very annoying. I asked the service people and talked about a more or less normal sound of some pump (?). They contacted AOA and told me the next day that this is considered within the range of engine sounds that Audi considers acceptable and normal to occur. However this noise persists and I would like to know if anybody else had a similar experience. In addition, approximately around the same period, I started to notice squeal coming from the front wheels when the car is going straight, between 15-20mph - nothing to do with the usual brake noise. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.<br>Mike J
