I was wondering if anyone who've modified his or her car with a new shock and spring combo got the "you'll void your warranty" speech from the dealer.

I have kept all my stock parts (shock/springs/sway bars)....so they can go back on if I chose to pay for them to be re-installed (or I put them on myself). Oh well, so alignments aren't covered anymore.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM
(H&R coilovers)

Brian, I bought my car at Hoffman in CT and have had good luck with the service department.
This is what they have done for me under warranty AFTER I had H&R Sport springs installed:
1. Aligned the car
2. Replaced both spring seats in the rear suspension( or something like that, a known problem in 96's)
3. Replaced my lower control arms.
I want to caution people who are thinking of doing an aftermarket suspension. My H&R springs really rattle in fast bumpy turns. I feel like I have lost the solid integrity of a normal suspension, and I know I'm not the only one. This is something to consider especially if you only want a slight increase over the factory sport. I'm not saying that it is common to have these problems, but you are increasing the likelyhood that your car will not be as perfect as it was before the change.
I don't mind anybody countering what I'm saying. This is just my experience.
Bill Shaffer

I have the A!Avantgarde spring/shock combo, and it is running great. The only problem I had was with a lower control arm that was creaking. This is a common problem, and the dealer replaced it under warranty. In fact, I specifically asked them if it had anything to do with the aftermarket suspension, and they said it did not. It was nice to get an honest answer, because I knew full well that the control arm problem was totally unrelated to the A!Avantgarde suspension. After the control arm fix, everything has been flawless.
Mike
