OK, so I am driving up Rt. 91 with the Supercharged 30v. I came over a crest to see nothing but one single black Volvo in the left lane for a good mile or so. Also, after a few cars in the 2 right lanes, the highway was wide-open. I was close enough to the Volvo to let him know I wanted to pass, but not so close as to be obnoxious. The Volvo driver was kind enough to move aside (more on the Volvo driver later), and at about 80 mph, I downshifted to fourth and floored it.
I took off like a bolt, and the next thing I knew I was running close to 6200 rpm and was going pretty darn fast. I didn't look on the speedo, so I couldn't say. However, as I let up on the pedal and felt the revs come down, I looked down to find the speedo STILL hovering at about 120 mph. Not sure how far past that I was going?
I then decide to calm down a bit and lay low in the right lane doing about 70. After the acceleration run, the black Volvo was like a spec in my mirror. However, after a few minutes, the Volvo gradually caught up. I noticed that his passenger window was rolled down as he was coming up aside me. I thought to myself "oh goodness, what's this joker up to". As he pulled directly aside me, I see this guy flash me a huge grin and a big thumbs up sign. His wife was in the passenger seat with a big smirk as well. I thought that was pretty cool. However, that wasn't the last I saw of the Volvo.
About 5 miles up the road, I ran into a total and complete traffic jam. There was a huge plume of smoke rising into the air off in the distance. Looked like someone got really hurt, as a medflight helicopter came in and extracted someone from the scene of what was surely a horrific traffic accident. Anyway, I certainly hope that whoever was involved in that accident end up OK. Now back to the story.
The traffic jam was so bad that everyone started getting out of their cars. I saw the black Volvo about 5 cars ahead, and sure enough, he got out and starting walking back toward me. I rolled down the window and said "you liked that?" with a grin. He responded with a confused "what is this car?". I told him it was an A4 with a supercharger. He said "yeah, I'll bet! We were going at a good clip and you just disappeared." I said "yup, it's a lot of fun." In a day where more often than not, everyone on the road behaves like a knucklehead, I thought that Volvo driver was pretty cool.
Mike

They work pretty well with the aftermarket suspension at anywhere up to a 8/10th pace. They are way down on lateral grip compared to the Toyos I had on the car. Also, the 55 series RS-A's create a bit more torque steer. With the stiff sidewalled 45-series Toyos on the car, even with 280hp, there was very little torque steer. With the RS-A's, it's a little more noticable, but still nothing compared to your average front-driver. I think the softer sidewall and lower tire-pressure of the 55-series is the reason.
