View Full Version : OK, I searched archives, but has anyone else gotten a Garret chip? AndrewT 12-23-1998, 08:39 PM Impressions? Experiances? The Garret chip sounds very enticing.
-Andrew charlie 12-24-1998, 05:27 AM Haven't found much in the archives, either. I e-mailed Garrett Lim twice with questions about his chips, and each time he responded, in detail, by the next day. I've decided to get his chip for the following reasons: 1) the few people who reported in the Forum LOVE their chip; 2) he seems to be responsive to customers and happy to customize; 3) the price is right ($400); 4) he seems to like what he does and interacting with enthusiasts and 5) I'm only 2 hours away from his shop. Chip Bryan 12-24-1998, 06:56 AM I have a Garrett stage II chip... it is awesome. Performance is amazing, and mileage is noticeably improved. Garrett is easy to deal with, and is quite the guru. charlie 12-24-1998, 07:26 AM Chip, Do you have any other mods in addition to the Garrett Stage 2? Chris L. 12-24-1998, 07:45 AM Charlie,
I am planning to Chip in the spring and had never seriously considered the Garrett products since there is very little about them mentioned on this forum.
I have 3 questions for you:
1) What is the Garret websit URL?
2) What questions did you ask them? I assume they were questions that I would also have - like boost, warranty, downtime, upgrades, etc. Would you mind posting your corresponces with them or a summary assuming they contain useful technical info?
Thanks,
Chris
98 1.8TQS Tip
AndrewT 12-24-1998, 09:17 AM ...its not a great website, though. Obviously, he's had to cover himself by putting in his disclaimer about track usage only - BUT is there a consumer risk if our chipped cars do not pass emmissions standards. Are all other chips CARB compliant?
Chris Jay Cole 12-24-1998, 12:33 PM |
