View Full Version : Adding in cd changer, easy? gt 05-26-1999, 09:22 AM Hey all,
Was wondering if it's easy to add in a cd changer to the stock stereo system of the 99.5 A4 1.8T? Paul 05-26-1999, 11:31 AM Search the Forums. I have seen ads for a Panasonic that is plug and play for near $240, it only works on 98 and up! Also, see link.

A4 Changer

TonyP 05-26-1999, 11:48 AM Buy the OEM CD changer from Clair parts.
It installs real easy in a 99.5 with just 4 screws, and there's no need to remove brackets or liners.
Also, as it's a genuine Audi part, it's covered under the vehicle's warranty.
The Panasonic (601 or 801) units aren't covered by the warranty. They need (and usually come with) a special mounting bracket and adapter. And they're badged "Panasonic" which doesn't impress as much as the OEM badge.
Tony
99.5 2.8 QT

http://www.clair.com/parts/a4acc.html

Bob.1 05-26-1999, 12:15 PM TonyP 05-26-1999, 12:41 PM 99.5 2.8 QT
TonyP 05-26-1999, 12:44 PM 99.5 2.8 QT
Deane 05-26-1999, 03:49 PM Didn't I read here at one time that it is only covered by the warranty if it was purchased *with* the vehicle? I am hoping not, because the changer I bought 6 months after the car has suddenly decided it doesn't want to play CD's anymore... They're an authorized Audi parts & service dealer, and will honor all warranties.
(2) Save yourself the postage, and take it to an Audi dealership other than the one you normally go to or the one you bought it from. Tell them it came with the car.
Option 2 sounds dishonest, but since the chargeback to Audi is the same - the end result (i.e. you get the unit fixed) is the same.
Tony
99.5 2.8 QT
TonyP 05-27-1999, 06:54 AM For an extra 30 bucks you got :
(1) An OEM unit covered by the Audi warranty.
(2) No need for a mounting bracket.
(3) No need for the adapter.
(4) A unit labeled "Audi" instead of "Panasonic", which looks way better at re-sale time.
I had a really hard time trying to figure out whether or I should save myself $30 when I'd just spent $30k.

Tony
99.5 2.8 QT
|
