chrisd 05-26-1999, 07:49 AM BDW 05-26-1999, 08:03 AM
nt No SC yet 05-26-1999, 08:39 AM I take real offense to that comment. I answered vik in a personal email to him. I am not a zero. I was only stating that a discount in price would bring more buyers to the PES. Plus a little competition in the marker might reduce the price. I am all for quality parts, but I would trade a little 'over the top' quality for a reduced price. That being said, if I had the Five grand to spend, I probably would spend it on the PES system.
We are not all made out of money. Five years to pay off a car with a huge note makes you a little more frugal.
I certainly do not want something for nothing. vik 05-26-1999, 09:48 AM who is SC boy? 05-26-1999, 10:10 AM . 05-26-1999, 10:30 AM
----- The following addresses had transient non-fatal errors -----
<vkps@usscgroup.com>
----- Transcript of session follows -----
<vkps@usscgroup.com>... Agree and apologize, just got carried away a parody on individuals that frustrate me everyday...those that find fault with others creations. It's exponentially easier to criticize something that exists than to build something from nothing (PES).
Additionally, the fella was not expressing an opinion as much as recklessly asserting that the cost of PES should somehow be inline with available alternatives. That assertion, by the way, was based on a loose compilation of facts. That is not an acceptable platform from which to vocalize a conclusion that leads others to question the intention or integrity of PES and their team. It has the potential of misleading others, no less than obviating slander or character defamation. Poorly substantiated assertions and conclusions should be called out so as not to poison the objectivity of others.
On, and on and on.
I apologize for expressing my opinion of him and his post.
MeanBlabberMouth the slanderer 05-26-1999, 11:03 AM randall 05-26-1999, 11:11 AM thought slander was verbal.
(NT) Scott 05-26-1999, 02:00 PM Peter G 05-26-1999, 05:27 PM Perhaps one way to interpret the original suggestion:
By lowering the price, the market may dramatically increase, and PES would be able to take advantage of cost volume relationships, and perhaps improve their profitabillity. Sounds like typical business consideration.
If you didn't negotiate for your A4 on the basis that a luxury car should be expensive - buy all means give me a roasting- but everyday people wonder if 4% over invoice is fair. Some of us considered Audi because BMW has "an unjustified permium" - does PES have an unjustified premium? This is all that is being questioned.
I've seen the statement more than once "why would you buy a 2.8 if you can buy a 1.8T a get 2.8 horsepower for $800 in chipping." Similarly the $5k cost of the PES system is quite close to the cost differential between the A4 and S4, and thus PES may be limitting the future market of the product.
Okay, apologies in advance. Personally, I appreciate what PES is doing- I'd be counting my pennies if I didn't drive a 12V.
PG 96 QM
Wait a few moments before responding while I put on my asbestos suit. MichaelB 05-27-1999, 01:57 PM I think the market for supercharger kits for 2.8's is well-defined, and relatively small. I doubt it's all of a sudden going to become a commodity item if the price is lowered. Regardless of price, only a very small percentage of 2.8 owners will be interested. 99% of all A4 owners would never even consider a chip, never mind a supercharger. Then, out of the remaining 1%, only another 1% will consider the supercharger.
Mike |
