View Full Version : Anyone have any opinions on Lojack in SoCal? SC 05-22-1999, 10:41 AM
. Hank 05-22-1999, 06:41 PM Bought an A4 last month, and was contemplating getting the Lojack. I've read that they are one of the best ways to get your car back quickly (before ample damage). However, when I talk to my brother in-law, (Orange County police officer), he said that Low-jacks are only as good as the location equipment. Apparently, many of So. Cal police department DON'T have the tracking devices needed to track down your car! You may want to check with your local police departments (where you live and work) and see if they have the equipment or have access through a neighboring dept.
Hank
99.5 1.8T (Lo-jackless) Brad Willis 05-23-1999, 08:53 AM LoJack is an excellent system. While it is possible that not every department has the necessary locating equipment, enough do so that around 95% of vehicles equipped with LoJack are recovered within 24 hours. Much of northern Mexican law enforcement now has the tracking equipment too. Also, LoJack did an excellent job on my installation.
I am a former cop, and have recovered many, many stolen cars, so take my purchase as a ringing endorsement. I have done much research on the subject and believe that the $500-$600 that the system costs is an excellent investment. Plus, most insurance companies offer a discount on rates if you have LoJack. I figure that the discount will pay for the device in about 4-5 years.

|
