I called the service manager at my dealer today regarding the rumors about the VAG 1551's purported ability to write over existing ECU code. I've worked with the guy before and he's a pretty straight shooter and he knows that I'm chipped because I told him. He told me that the VAG 1551 has no write capability, only read.<p>Phew!<p>

The VAG 1551/1552 can't overwrite chips. It's the VAG 5051 that we're talking about. Dealers don't have it yet.<br>JohnS<br>

Okay, well that explains it. I cited the 5051 and he didn't know what I was talking about. I assumed that he would know and that the original post was a typo. <br>
