I was concerned about a lite screeching noise in the rear end (think it's the brake pads in cold weather) and I was under the car.
I saw an oil leak on each side of the rear differential from the seals where the axles come out. The leaks were large enough to form drops but not drip (of course, it's quite cold here now - below zero F).
Anybody else seen this?
Thanks,
Tohr

Had a leak in rear differential w/ my 97 1.8T. Brought to dealer and they replaced seal. Didn't have any noises however.
I noticed it in my garage within a day or so of it happening when I saw the fluid drops on the floor.
No issues since replacement, happened at about 22K. (Now 28K).
My 96 QM had the same problem at 26,000 miles about a month ago.
The leak was minor and drive shaft flange oil seals were replaced unther the warranty.
Nozomi
