I will be moving to south Florida in the near future. Dealers there have quoted me $1500 over invoice for a new A4 1.8T. However, if I purchase an A4 1.8T (current stock or factory order) from a current local dealer, I can get an A4 1.8T for $1000 over invoice!
What are the PROS / CONS of purchasing an A4 1.8T from one dealer, and then servicing it at another?
P. S.: I would like to have my car serviced at Champion Audi in Pompano Beach, FL. Does anyone know how receptive they are to servicing a car purchased elsewhere?
TIA!
I can't speak for Audi but I'll assume their warranty operates very much like Saturn's which means it doesn't matter where you purchased your car, if it's under warranty any authorized Audi dealer will service it. I worried about that when I purchased a Saturn 9 yrs. ago with a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and then moved to a new location. I was worried that the new dealer would be less receptive to servicing a car they didn't sell. Again I'm speaking about Saturn not Audi, but they treated me as well as any customer who purchased the car from their dealership. Remember, they have an incentive to make you happy because someday you may need repairs that aren't covered or you may purchase another Audi and they want you to come back to them.
Again, I assume that's standard practice with all manufacturers who offer warranties like this but someone with actual Audi experience may want to correct me.

I bought my car in Boulder, CO and a year later moved to Burlington, ON. My car is now serviced near where I work and I've never had any problems. The car is under warranty and I live here, so there is simply no issue.
Jason
I bought my 1.8 in NY but live and work in CT (northern). I've gotten all of my service there with no problem, in fact I trust them more than the dealer in Long Island. Anyway, there were not disadvantages except, they only gave loaner cars to people who bought their cars at that dealership. With a little persuasian I was able to get a loaner car with no problem and have alwasy gotten one (3 or 4x) ever since with no problem. ( even if its a Ford Contour.) P.S. my dealer/service guys are also mod. friendly in CT.

After all, aren't dealers reimbursed by Audi for warranty repairs and maintenance.

I've had 0 problems. I tried to buy my car at the dealer a mile from my house but they would not come down enough on price. So I bought from another dealer about 10 miles away. I've brought my car into the dealer (that I did not buy from) for service twice now and the service has been excellent. The service department does not seem to care where I purchased. They still offer me a loaner car with a weeks notice for regular service or will drop me off and pick me up at my office if I do not give them a weeks notice.
Nadeem
1.8TQM
