i have a 96 2.8Q, and when ever i shift gears, and accellerate, i feel a kinda shake in the car or maybe a slip. there's no noise, but it's kinda like i ran over a bump or something. Could this be my Clutch going out? or is it just normal in the Quattro. Thanks
nate

I use to have my clutch slip under heavy acceleration - I mean let the clutch go at 4000 rpm WOT, shift to second, and the clutch had heated the flyweel surface and it continues to slip and of course smoke and smell for weeks. Fixed that problem by going underneath the dash and adjusting the slave cylinder connecting rod to the clutch pedal a few turns to engage my clutch deeper. I didn't like the way the stock setup was engaging late when the clutch was released, so I adjusted it to engage halfway. helps prevent the clutch from sliping.
The other thing I get which other A4Q's owners experience also is upon heavy accelerating and decelarating, I get a thug sound and a slight jerk of the car, but I believe it is something to do with the torsen differential of the quattro, but I don't think there is anything wrong.
Now all I hear is a whiiz when I hit 80 to 90mph and my fat tires go roar =)

Had a situation in old Coupe Quattro whenever was in 1st or 2nd gear, and had to lift off gas (as in stop-&-go driving), car would rock back and forth (I called it "rubber-banding"). Turned out to be combination of a bad clutch center spline piece (where clutch fits onto crankshaft; was getting radial play between center hub where driveshaft spline connects and outer friction linings) and also bad rubber driveshaft center mounts. This occurred at about 120K miles.
