I have decided to lease the above vehicle after posting a question below re: leasing vs buying used. Thanks for those that helped
.
I've got a $500/month car allowance plus gas & maint. included.
As I stated below, I have had company cars since starting my career several yrs ago, so this will be my first foray into a dealership.
I'd like to walk in with some semblance of confidence, but clearly I am at a disadvantage so my plea to you experienced buyers is:
What kind of lease deals have you received (ie, payments, other perks, etc)? What can I expect in the diff in payments between 98's and 99's?
I havent' even started looking yet. Can I get my hands on a 99 or are they in high demand?
I will probably drive at least 15-2000 mi per year, but I'm not worried about paying the mileage as my car allowance should cover it if I am disciplined in my savings. Given my scenario, should I spend time negotiating for xtra mileage?
Should I settle for a 98 and save a couple bucks or go with the 99?
Does a lease cover any of the maint costs? This isn't as much of an issue because I am covered by my employer, but am just curious.
Thanks in advance for your help.
-jk

just picked up my 99 1.8TQ stick! loaded except sport seats and trip computer, has everything else. good luck finding a stick (if that's what you're looking for). it'll take 5 months if you walk into the dealer and order today (unless they already have one slated for production).
$1300 at inception, $363/month for 39months/10K miles year.
residual values aren't as high on leftover 98s...cheap to just buy the car at this point.
factory maintenance is included.
ymmv.
...what are the mileage requirements. Most of the ads I see in the paper aren't listing prices.
Are leases fairly standard from dealer to dealer?
