I already blew my first turbo on my 1.8T after I installed a MTM chip, and now i'm experiencing the same thing as last time. No hoses are cracking or visual alerts, but all power is gone once again. Is the stock turbo weak? I don't race my A4, but also don't drive it lightly. Would upgrading to a larger turbo solve this problem, because i'll do anything. Could you please reply if you have upgraded you car's turbo (especially the MTM/Hoppen 250HP kit). Thanks
BTW, first turbo blew in early august, not even 3 months ago

do you have to pay out of pocket for these repairs?

I think you need the larger turbo!

Even though it's covered under warranty (it should be), I would have this issue checked out (but not fixed) by shop that knows what they are doing (i.e. a performance shop with turbo experience) and doesn't have a vested interest in the problem. Anything they can tell you about the source of your problem will extremely helpful when you go back to the dealer for the 2nd time.
Did you have a "Blown" turbo the first time (which is extremely rare)? Or did you have the broken control rod (which seems to be more common)?
Keep in mind that all the chip manufacturers don't exceed the recommended limits of the stock turbo charger in their chips. If the really turbo blew I would blame it more on bad luck and a defect then the chip.
I would be more inclined to believe that something simplier happened again. Like a broken control rod, or a bad waste gate diaghram. Not sure if you can order either of these seperately though.
I'm not arguing that you don't have a problem. But make sure the root of the problem is found so it won't happen again. Generally the dealer's mechanics are parts swappers and don't _really_ take the time to understand why.
DC

I had it checked out the first time by performance shop and they said that they believed that the turbo siezed, not that the wastegate was broken. When i took it to Audi shop they simply kept if for like 2 weeks, gave it back to me w/ Replaced Turbo Assebly on receipt. Audi paid the first time.
