I just purchased my new 2.8Q tip four weeks ago. I drove both cars and I couldn't tell any major difference (other than cosmetic). After becoming a somewhat regular to A4.org, I read that there has been some suspension and structural updates as well. I feel that I was able to negotiate a fairly good deal (1k over invoice) because I knew that the dealer was in the process of recieving the 99.5's.
I still love my car but does the 99.5 perform any better?

There has been NO mechanical changes between 99 and 99.5, thus no difference in performance. The updates I am enjoying in my 99.5 V6 are: 10-way power driver AND passenger seats, new headlights w/ lowered foglights, high-gloss woodtrim, ambiante lighting, console changes (especially the off button for the climate control), among other things...
What about the news archive titled "More details about the mid year changes" "Beginning in February 1999....a chassis with many reworked details for improved responsiveness and ride comfort......at no extra cost. " Read the "extensive chassis modifications section". Whats that all about?
This bar is missing from all other A4's including the 99.5's without the sport. Owners of 99.5s with sport can verify this easily. Is this the only structural/mechanical change? I doubt it!
Kostas
99.5 2.8 QMS

Rhema:
Are you saying you can use re-circ without A/C in 99.5?

Thank you for contacting Audi of America.
It is our privilege to announce some updates to this classic vehicle. With the A4 selling in record numbers, these changes do not represent
a redesign of this model, but a refreshment of it. Here are some of the changes you will see on the A4 and A4 Avant models arriving this spring:
* New outer door handles (A6 style)
* New halogen headlights (A6 type)
* Larger sunroof opening
* Foglights moved to lower front bumper
* 10-way power driver and passenger seats with lumbar adjustment (2.8 only)
* Revised center console and climate control panel
* Steering wheel in dashboard color
* Aluminum door sill trim with "Audi" script
* Revised front grille
* New rear deck lid with revised license plate opening (Avant
only)
* Interior upholstery/trim changes

Unfortunately, there are no brochures on the 1999.5 "Refreshed" Audi A4.

Someone found some changes on the 99.5 sport pak. But if you read the article available here or at Audi World Site you will see that most major changes never made it here. Audi made extensive changes across the spectum in Europe.
