After driving our new A4 after my wife, I noticed that the flip-action cig lighter was stuck in the down position (lighter inaccessible).
No one here had specific sugesstions other than prying, so I took it to the dealer this morning.
The dealer theorized that the lighter was pushed all the way in (to active the heating element) by accident, then flipped closed. When the heating element was ready, it popped up then "shot out of the socket down into the center console somewhere". The dealer pryed the flip-action mechanism up, then removed it to dig out the lighter. All's well that ends well.
HERE'S THE WARNING: Be very careful when replacing the cig lighter, not to push the heater knob all the way in , but also make sure that the "body" of the lighter is snug in the socket BEFORE you close the lighter up!!! My non-smokers fix for this is to remove the actual lighter plug from the socket & keep it in the glove compartment.
99.5 1.8T QM black/onyx - yeah baby.
