Default IceLink goofiness

So we get into the car today and find the iPod (3G) on, but not playing, with half a battery remaining, and totally locked up. The head unit didn't recognize the IceLink (CDC) at all.

I removed the iPod and reset it (Menu + Play for 10 seconds). I put it back into the dock, and try to access it again. No luck, no charging, no CDC. I turn off the radio for a few seconds, and back on, still no recognition that anything is plugged in. We continue driving for a few minutes, grumbling about how I couldn't believe that anything could have worked loose already, and thinking of ways to secure things better when I do get the chance to pull the radio again.

On a lark, I hit the CD button again, and everything just worked. The sound from the iPod was just as clear as it was before, and it started charging again. All of the controls worked as well.

Right now, I'm not sure what caused this problem, or if it will recur. Anyway, we have a 2003 with Bose and no nav, phone, or OnStar. The iPod is a 3G with the latest firmware and the IceLink is listed as v. 1.2, even though Dension has no documentation past v. 1.1.

One peculiar thing I have noticed about the head unit, is that the published hidden diagnostics and features are not all there. For example, the equalizer (button 5 + power on) doesn't exist. This may be more of a head unit firmware issue.

Default The equalizer is on the symphony unit not the Bose

Is it possible the Icelinc/charge does not take effect unless the head is on and in CD mode?

Default I thought the Bose used the Symphony head unit and would have the same functions.

I know that some people de-Bose their cars, but I'm not interested in that. I just want to boost the bass a little up front.

The iPod charges whether it is in external CD mode or not. Now, it is working, but this morning (and sometime overnight) something happened that stopped everything from working.

Default I just researched... Bose is the option/amp.

The head unit is the same with or without Bose. is either Symphony I or Symphony II
The symphony I unit with the hidden EQ has the push ***** for treb/base/fade/bal. The symphony II doe not have this.

Default Mine did similar thing first day of use- the ipod worked but radio didn't recognize...

ipod or any of the cds (2004) in the unit. I later hit the cd button a few times and everything was OK. Just got back from a trip to Atlanta area (1600 miles total) and ipod worked perfect, especially since radio stations sucked.

Default the '01 had Symphony I which had the hidden EQ functions

'02+ has Symphony II (no hidden EQ). Bose is a VAG setting plus there is a physical amplifier and bass speaker in the rear.

Default It happened again last night!

My wife was driving and said that the head unit wouldn't allow her to switch to the iPod again. This morning, I had no problem switching it on...

I'm hoping for some big (yet non damaging) preceding symptom to show up so this bug can be tracked down.
