Default Always makes me nervous buying ebay from overseas...

Plus, that's no trivial install job.

Default Actually, the Nav+ install is easier than it looks.....

I just did mine last weekend and it was very easy (FYI - I have a 2001 A6 Avant)...and I added the TMC/CAN gateway to be able to send the CD/Radio/Nav information to the cluster display...a MUST for any Nav+ install.

What a cool device! My wife and I use if for lots of things. It's capabilities are completely understated on that Nav+ "how to" website..see link. I am working on a tech article...more to follow.

The install took me 6 hours (in two 3 hour sections). Of course, I had all the necessary parts and did the research beforehand.

Re: Ebay overseas...
I've purchase three items via ebay germany with no complaints (each worth $300+). All you need to know is whether the seller will ship to the US, and if they accept a bank wire transfer for payment. Very simple.

If anyone is interested in adding the Nav+ to their allroad/A6...and I mean seriously interested...no "tire kickers"..I know of a few US-based Nav+ "brokers" where you can source the parts. Expect to spend $1500 for everything (unit, mapdisks, gps antenna, cables/connectors etc). Drop me an email and we can start the process.

Since Thursday, my wife and I have found ourselves using the Nav+ three times...(under emergency scenarios). The only downside is not having the ability to change a CD up front in the dash.... but we are quickly learning that that is "no big deal".

The funny thing is....I've found my wife using it more than me....and she has always told me that this Audi obsession was a "waste of time". Looks like the joke is on her.

As soon as we get into the car...she's using the right jog dial to pull up "special destinations" and "Route List" etc...to program our destinations etc. She refers to the Nav+ as the the British "Chippy". Too funny.

Bottomline: The Nav+ has many more uses than just getting from A to B. You just need to see it in action to understand it. More to follow.

Dan Gold's Nav+ How-To Website

Default My 01 ar has the old-style nav system...

For which I have been unable to get a working CD since I got the car in Jan/03!

I should be able to use the existing antenna plus an extension, and presumably the CAN bus is already there. It's sounding more reasonable all the time...

Default Yup...the C-Navi discs are on backorder until July....

not sure about the CAN bus device...and whether it is already in your dash.....worth a look.

Running the GPS antenna wire will take some work..and you'll have to buy a male/female SMB cable (I know where) for $50...or you can just buy the same one that I did...for $40 from www.gpsaccessories.com.

drop me an email if you want to see my install pix etc (your email must accept 4MB worth of email pix)...I have a tech article in progress.

I really like my Nav+ a lot.

Default Backorder? My dealer gave up even trying to get them.

I'd love to see your pics. YGM.
