If you get M3s, consider that if you damage one between now and the time all 4 wear out, you will probably not be able to get a replacement.
I'm in that position now on another FWD car, with 2 good M3s and 2 worn more than I'd like. (But it is not AWD, and Dunlop told me I can run 2 M3s and 2 3Ds on separate axles.)
Also, I'd guess that the 3Ds would be very comparable to the M3s if not better. The tread pattern is very similar. And the M3s were such a popular tire for Dunlop, I doubt they would make a change that would ruin a good thing.
Unless there is a significant price differential (and you buy 5 M3s?), I'd go 3Ds. The M3s will also be older stock, if that makes a difference.
