Had the Dunlop Wintersport M3's on my AR for years and loved 'em, but I need to buy a new set of snows. Since Dunlop seems to be phasing the M3 out and replacing it with the 3D, I figured I'd be buying a set of 3D's. But when I went to my local tire store, the salesman told me that Dunlop was still making the M3 in the size I need for the allroad - 222/55/17 - and he has them in stock. When I asked about the 3D's, he told me he'd have to call around on Monday and see if he could order them in the size I need.
SO - my question is - since apparently allroad owners still have a choice, should I stick with the M3's or go with the newest generation 3D's? Has anyone had first hand experience with both of these tires? Any observed differences b/w the two as far as snow/ice handling, wear, ride, etc?
