Just brought an iPod today and spoke to my local audio guy to do an install along the lines that Jeff recommended in an earlier post.

Firstly the iPod is sexy! Small but heavy and beautifully finished. Not enough o's in smooth to descibe the operation of the jog dial.

I'm going to hook directly behind the head unit with a switch to change between the ipod and cd changer. This is all standard bits for a professional installer so no specific parts are required.

I also ordered an iPod car adapter (http://www.drbott.com/images/lg/0141-IPAA.jpg)as external power is through a firewire cable. We'll use this as a donor cable to provide a tidy solution probably in the bin beside the handbrake.

The apple guy in the apple store recommended xplay as a PC to iPod solution.
