Default Here it is done once and for all the Cargraphic S8 exhaust! (VERY LONG...but worth the read!)

It took some time to get this project together, from start to end it took about 8 weeks. 6 weeks of it was waiting for the parts to be manufactured in Germany, then shipped here and don't forget some time in customs. I have to say though its worth it. Below are some pics of the exhaust that I took today, the S8 is very dirty so pardon the look

Now for a driving experience. First of all i have to say the 28 horse power gain that cargraphic claims is legit, at least by the seat of my pants as well as the head mechanic over at autosportworks.com. This is an entire replacement of the exhaust and you can feel it as well as hear it. There is notable power increase at all speeds, and all gears.

First Gear
When you turn the car on it come to life with a grumble, a cross between that of a 911tt and the New S55k. Once the engine comes to life and then idle the noise dies down to a low mute. Its not noticeable at all in the car but outside you can hear a deep low grumble. The Audi service manager did a triple take when I started it inside his enclosed service bay area. As you climb the revs to from 1000-2500 a deep rich grumbling occur, you can definitely hear it inside and out, this is when it sounds the best. from 2500-4000 there is a nice whine and growl, though not as deep as in the lower range, A more sophisticated note telling people that there is a sophisticated engine underneath. Once again the exhaust sounds kind of like the like my dads 03 S55k. As the revs pass 4000 all the way to 6000 pitch increases and the deep grumbling dies off to give way to a nice resonating whirl. I have to note that up in this range the sound level drops in the cabin as well. pushing the engine up all the way to 7000 increase the same as from 4-6 but with higher intensity and just before the rev limit there is the familiar S8 whine, I am sure all you S8 guys know what i mean.

2-4 Is the same as first but inside the cabin the nose drops off considerable as you climb up the gears.

5 A 80 mile drive home on the highway was great. as the car sits in 5th at 60 mph there is a slight intrusion of the exhaust but just enough to tell you that its there. 70 mph the intrusion drops off considerable, setting the radio to 11 drowns out the exhaust it's that quiet. Go drive your a8/s8 at 70 turn your radio volume to level 11, with an average volume song and that beats the exhaust. 80 mhp, where I cruse mostly the noise is gone, you have to be paying really close attention to hear it at 80 or higher.

OK NOW FOR THE PICS!!!!! Will clean the car up and find a nice spot for more pics soon!

Installing and other information related to the exhaust.

Below are pics of the car up on the jack. As you can see this was a complete upgrade of the entire exhaust. There are several things that had to be done to make this happen. First of all there was fabrication at the start of the exhaust to fit correctly with the catalytic converters. it was an easy fix. The hardest part was the inclusion of an entirely new muffler on the right side of the car. First thing was to install a head shield around the right side of the spare tire casing so the new muffler wont melt the plastic. Easy enough they said.

Then the had to fabricate a hook for the right muffler in order for it to be held in place, unfortunately you cant see it in any of the pics, but in the close up of the right muffler you can see the silver bracket that seems out of place, its right behind it.

Next came the tips. The right tips, from the end of the muffler to the end of the tips came is a sold long piece, exactly like the ones on the left hand side of the car. As you can see they had to cut and re-weld the pips considerable to make it curve around the spare tire holder, this took the most work out of everything on the car.

Finally they had to cut the rear valence in order to make room for the pipes. Cutting it entailed that they had to remove the rear tow hook. the Black cap for it is now glued in and cant be removed as well as the car cant be towed from behind anymore, ohh well a small price to pay. Well that's if for now guys. Ohh one last thing though I am going to get sportec chips for my Audi ECU and TCU upgrade ECU is going to be a 50 hp bump if anyone is interested to get in on a set? As it stands the S8 has 393 horses, AND GROWING!!!! Final words....worth it and then some......

Ok here install pics.

Default I have to admit that it looks pretty good.

But I have a hard time believing that you can get 50hp from any chip, that's not even believable for a turbocharged car. Be careful with the numbers Sportec claims. Even though it's quality stuff, it's very expensive and nobody seems to be able to duplicate Sportecs own estimates.

What have you done to your S8 to get it to 393 hp? Hopefully more than that exhaust.

Default 2400 +840 install not cheap at all but you only live once

price was due to one off piece, cheaper if a group buy. 840, there is alot of fabrication and welding that goes into into it 17 shop hours 3 of which were welding. they marked me for 10 hours instead.
