bed and hoisting one of each set, the 17"ers feel like they're about 5 lbs lighter than the 18"ers.

the question as I see it is, is the aluminum alloy lighter than the rubber and carbon fibre tire material that will ultimately make up the difference?

I've never taken the opportunity to learn about wheels wrt diameter, weight, performance, and function.

Are there any good primers out there?
