Thoughts on Aston Martin?

Thanks to the AMG veterans for chiming in. I guess if you want a bulletproof drivetrain out of the UK, you'll have to get the Toyota powered Emira. The Aston V12s are supposedly pretty good, if a little maintenance hungry. The 12 should make a reappearance in upcoming DBS/Vanquish models.
Also, the long term viability of AM is a very valid point. But it would be a pity if they demise when they have the most salable portfolio of products in decades, including the widely praised DBX SUV. Im sure there is a Middle Eastern prince somewhere who will rescue them to keep his AM cars current and make for lively conversation in cocktail parties.

I have owned Range Rovers since 1982, and I will tell you they have come a long way since then. The model years I have owned are. 1982, 1995, 2003, 2007, 2018 and I am waiting on the new Range Rover I ordered last year. The Range Rovers are very complicated cars and they do get a bad reputation in the press and by some owners (mainly those who drove Lexus before Rovers). My 2007 and 2018 have been amazing and as long as you take care of the recommended maintenance, I have found them to be very reliable cars. My 2007 had almost 200,000 miles on it when I sold it.

An AM, I have no clue. Never owned one but it sure is a pretty ride.

I have nothing but positive experience with RR. We owned 2016, 2019, 2023 and in about 1 month we'll have 2024 and never had any major issues. My favorite model was 2019. I'm not a big fan of 2023 and up style, but my wife loves it.

I drove the new DB12 and was very unimpressed. It felt big, didn’t handle well and really didn’t seem all that powerful. Felt like I was driving an SUV. The new infotainment is also plagued with issues, just go on the Aston forums and read the threads.
You’re better off doing an Italian or German cruiser.

The Aston DB12 is definitely a great looking car. I just wish they would get their act together as a company. Perhaps, BMW can buy them out and get the company back on the proper track like they did with Rolls Royce or may be VW group as they did with Bentley. It is beyond comprehension as to why the Brits cannot manage or keep a car company moving forward and keeping up with the times lol...

I think Tata has their hands full at the moment especially for the Jaguar brand. Their decision to turn Jaguar into only electric vehicles is in my humble opinion not a wise one, but then again, Jaguar has been losing market share and appeal. I have to admit though that Tata has done and is doing a great job with the Land Rover brand. It is quite unfortunate that Brexit happened at the time Tata was getting things in order. Brexit did not help Tata, that is why a lot of Land Rover vehicles are being manufactured in Slovakia, Brazil, India and China at the time being.
