What a pain...sounds like a real safety issue. Just an FYI to others considering extended warranties given this developing issue -- the mild hybrid system is covered on California cars for 7/70 under the extended emissions warranty coverage. Hopefully, Audi will develop a solid fix that is relatively affordable, given that the MH system is fairly ubiquitous across multiple models.

Hello all!

Quick update. The issue indeed was the 48V generator. They have the part on order, no part eta which is what worries me, but they seem hopeful it will be this week.

Even if not, I will be traveling for. Week so I will have a buffer here. Regardless, seems like a "simple" fix once the part arrives, they promised it it an easy swap and will be done as soon as the part comes in same day.

So....now we wait

Let us know what happens. Hopefully, there is a long term fix available...alternators/generators generally last 10-15 years or more, so this premature failure seems strange unless the design is radically different than other electric motors.

Update time:

Confirmed it is the 48volr generator. They have had it for about 2 weeks, and I am 4th in line to get a new generator.

The parts are coming. I. Roughly 1-2 per week. So, honestly, I expect to have my car back by Christmas......

They are putting me i to a rental car though. So that is nice I guess. No loaners at the .oment. So, seems this is a major issue if there are this many cars backed up with the same issue. Didn't. Ask if they were A6 or A8 in line with me
Us side is, it does seem to be an "easy" fix once done
