Electrical error
Hey all!
2019 A8 3.0.42000
Was driving home today and I got an electrical system error. All the screen error says is electrical system malfunction, contact service. In addition, the auto start-stop feature stopped working.
I got home, turned the car off and on, and a message saying warning: battery low, battery will charge while driving came up, and then just the general electrical fault.
Car is under original warranty, so no issue there, but I am just curious how serious of a problem this might be and if I should worry about getting stranded somewhere? I am calling the dealer tomorrow, but who k ow when I can get a loaner
Would appreciate any thoughts!

Ah sh**.
This is probably a failure of the 48V belt starter generator. This is now running its course on the latest gen A6 on this forum. Keep us updated please.

So....... Worry about getting stranded? Or is that a separate electrical system for the start stop system only?

So, Quick update. Driving kid to school and back this morning, car has an absolute seizure. A short list of things that went wrong
CEL on
The yellow warning light turned red telling me to park safely
transmission failed shortly after but the car said i could drive with limited functionality (which apparently meant no forward acceleration)
ACC Warnings, distance warnings, parking sensors everything was chiming all at once.
power steering failures
*Edit: Air suspension failures all secondary systems (soft close doors for instance) and the transmission is still buggered, it wont go into park when you turn the car off.
I was 1.2 miles from home when all of this stuff happened, so I pulled over, turned the car off and back on, and that got everythign to reset so i could drive home until all of the errors popped up again while I was turning on my street, so I coasted into my driveway.
AAA is here to tow the car to the dealer and I have rented a car.
What a great thursday!

I would make a NHSTA complaint or however that works. This strikes me as a safety issue and should lead to a recall...
