Thank you for all the responses, keep them coming! Does the 2020 model year have more reliability problems than a 2022? Not because it's older, but more like TSB/recall issues. I'm waiting for the CarFax and to see how much a delivery charge might cost.

Does anything stand out from the CarFax report to you? I thought it was interesting that the spark plugs have already been replaced and at such an early mileage.

I would call the dealership where the car got serviced and ask them to print you out a complete service history on the car, as well as the reason for the spark plugs being changed so early. Also, your nearest Audi dealership might be able to pull out the service history on the car since most of the work stated on the carfax would have probably been performed under warranty, with the exception of the tires maybe. Other than that, it appears to be a well taken care car.

First round of spark plugs seems normal based on maintenance schedule of 30K or 3 years but the second round 5 months later is weird. You could suggest it to be a situation where owner/dealership couldn't determine if maintenance was done correctly but this thing seems to have been looked after by two Audi dealers so don't think they would be missing this info. FWIW, I do sometimes question the veracity of the information that gets reported to Carfax outside of car registration or titling activity.

I think a call into Audi Central and Audi West Houston are next steps.

I spoke with a Service Advisor from the servicing dealership in Houston. They couldn't speak about the double spark plug replacement and I'm now wondering if the CarFax is inaccurate. Either way, they confirmed that the original warranty is still in effect until late July 2024 and that the car is a one owner and has an impressive service history. The selling wholesaler doesn't have an interest in my car (2016 S8 Plus), so I have turned to CarMax. Their initial offer is a lot more than I thought it would be, so fingers crossed I get the appointment scheduled within the next day or so and they come through with a high estimate. If my memory is correct, CarMax gives three days to make a selling decision. I will use that time to make a trip to Houston (from Dallas) and see the 2020 S8 in person. Whew, not sure if it's excitement or anxiety, but I'm getting close to a new S8 and have a few butterflies in my stomach.

Any last minute advice? Aside for the "normal stuff", is there anything you existing owners can tell me to look for when I see the 2020 unit later this week?

I had an early build, pre covid, jan 2020 S8 for 3.5 yrs and 15k miles before it got t-boned and totaled by a teenager 4 weeks ago.

No issues out of ordinary stuff, one computer reset and that was it. Every once in a while the oil would get low but audis are notorious for that, just keep a couple of qrts in the trunk. Gonna miss it as i was planning on buying it when lease was up in june.

As others have said, find a competent mechanic outside of audi and use them for the basic maintenance needs. My audi dealer was 325hr. Also shop the insurance cause it aint cheap. GL with it.
