Car must return to normal ride height before responding to keyfob locking?
Was having trouble locking the car with key fob, but only some time. Kept pressing the lock button on key fob but no response from car.
If this occurs, I seem to be able to lock the car after a while.
Then one day it dawned on me that the car has to return to normal ride height upon shutting off/ exiting/ receiving locking signal and it takes a while (maybe 30 seconds? I assume the 48V has to be engaged to lower the car??)
Is my assumption correct?

Change your car remote battery, see if that helps. Whenever I've raised the car for easy exit for my mom, I expect it to be at the same raised height after I've locked it and returned to drive the next day. And it is.

This may be a dumb question...how does one "raise" the suspension? It used to be a simple adjustment on my D3, but is there a simple approach to raising and lower? That feature helped me a lot with my D3 -- wife high pointed the car once in the mountains when she backed up off the road onto a dirt berm. Just raised the ride height and was able to drive off the berm.
never mind...found the answer.

I have been noticing some delay between the soft close door cycle completing and when the car will allow itself to be locked.
Basically, the car takes too long after the door is closed before it permits me to lock it. This is true with the key button or with the sensor on the door handle.
On my 2012 Mercedes, and also on my 2023 R8, the door finger sensor works immediately when touched. It's far quicker for me to lock the car with the finger sensor because I can leave the key fob in my pocket.
I just hop out, close the door, drag my finger over the indentation and beep, it locks. This was even true with the Mercedes which has soft close doors. There is no delay after closing the door before I could lock it.
But with the 2023 S8, the soft close door is much slower to activate than my Mercedes. And I believe that the car does not permit itself to be locked until the door is fully closed.
This results in a noticeable delay between my exit from the car and when I can lock it. The delay has rendered the option to lock the car with the finger sensor effectively useless, as I don't want to stand around waiting for the door to finish closing.
So, I have to walk away and use the key fob to lock the car after a few steps, once the door has completely shut.

I just realized myself what this lag was a few days ago. As Subter says, it's the soft door close not the suspension. It's annoying. I wonder if this is true with recent '23 and '24 models?
