Default anyone with experience going from 21" wheels to 20"?

I have 21" wheels on my 23 A8L. While I love the looks, given the short sidewall, I wonder if swapping the wheels to 20" would make the care more comfortable. Air suspension does a good job in general but some of the more sudden harsh bumps are felt throughout the cabin so bad with these wheels. The issue is I cannot test drive 21 vs 20 back to back to get a sense of the difference in ride quality and it is too expensive to buy the 20" wheel/tire and find out there's minimal difference. Hence, this question... has anyone gone from 21" wheels on their A8 to 20"? If so, was it worth the $? Did it lead to noticeable change in ride quality and comfort?

I can't speak to 21" on this car, but I have 20" with newly purchased Goodyear Eagle AS with the acoustic foam. I'm really liking this set up's combination of ride and handling. It's really nice. No complaints but how it compares to a 20" or 19" set up...anyone's guess. I will note that tire choice is also important. There are differing degrees of sidewall stiffness to tires depending on the design intent. Performance tires tend to have stiffer sidewalls that hold better in turns, but transmit more road noise and vibration.

What type of 21” wheel do you have?

The ones below. Absolutely gorgeous! but after having the car for 6 months, if you live in an urban-non perfect pavement area, they absolutely take away from the luxurious ride experience you expect from an A8. The potholes feel way too raw and you hear plastic screeching from the whole cabin when you go over a bad bump.

I had 21s on my prior V8 D5. I have 20s on this one. I much prefer the 20s. Quieter and smoother.

100% 20s are the way to go on this car. I don't understand why they went with such a stupid aspect ratio of tire on the 21s that doesn't leave much sidewall. This has less sidewall than the 21" wheels on my 22 Cayenne and I thought Cayenne needed more sidewall.

The 20" are more confortable but look not so nice as 21".... but if you look for comfort only it is your choice!

In NYC the 21" is a disaster. Wonder how a 19" would fare?

Default Love my 20s

Love the stock 20s that came with the V8. Never tried the 21s but these do nicely on terrible Chicago city streets.
