Default "Updating Satellite Radio Subscription" - anyone get this all the time?

Lately, it seems like I am getting the "updating subscription" weekly when I start the car in the morning. I have changed nothing with my SAT radio subscription, yet it keeps telling me its updating my channels. Of course, when it does this, it wipes out my presets nearly every time. It is starting to happen often enough its pissing me off. Are others getting this or might I have a technology glitch or something?

Have you tried sending a new programming signal to it via Sirius? You used to have to call them, but now it is on the website under your account. After that, you may need any of a new tuner, new antenna module, or new signal amplifier. A VCDS scan might provide some info. As 2015, are you still under 4/50? After the programming update, I would take it in if 4/50 still good. I had a bad tuner on my D3, so recognize some of the drill and those symptoms.

Interesting...good thought to resend the signal...Ill do that today. Yes, I am still under the 4/50 so that will be my next move - was just hoping to build up a few reasons to have to take it in because of the inconvenience. Thanks for the suggestion.

When I couldn’t get a signal and channels displayed “linking” that was a sign the antenna was shot.

I’ve noticed Sirius reloading more often.

I have had it come up twice in the past week or so. It usually has to do with channels being added/changed.

Default Sirius Antenna Failure - Can Old Antenna Cover be Reused?

I had the same issues you describe here (updating list often) on my 2017 S8 for a while. And several times I lost my presets in the process. Then recently I starting getting the error message shown below, intermittently but fairly consistently. The dealer will be replacing the antenna (still waiting for parts), so I'm hoping that this fault (perhaps poor connection) caused the too frequent updating and loss of presets. While under warranty, the dealer is telling me that that Sirius antenna cover will need to be replaced and therefore need to be painted. To avoid a poor match, can I reuse the original antenna cover with the new Sirius antenna? Thx.

I had the frequent updates problem and it was fixed by replacing the antenna

Antenna or sat radio unit are the usual suspects if you know the signal and subscription are in order. I know folks have seen bad antennas at times on most any Audi. I personally had a similar issue on by D3 which eventually resulted in a replacement of the sat box. Same box still runs today 10+ years later on the (no longer available) lifetime subscription.
