Some Thoughts on MMI Version 7.15
So, I took my car in last week for its 15,000 mile service and asked the dealer to do "all open campaigns". When it came back, it had MMI version 7.15 on it. Huzzah! I thought I would have to beg and plead, but it apparently was on one of the campaigns.
Anyway, so far, I have noticed a few minor tweaks to the displays, but 2 (or maybe three) really great additions:
1. Google street view for Nav destinations is awesome. As soon as you are down to one last turn, the top two boxes turn into a street view picture of your destination! Very helpful.
2. The Bose sound system sounds much much better. I can turn the surround effect all the way down and still have bass and the stereo separation is much better. Seems like a whole new system.
3. When you have destination set, traffic/trouble reports now show in the nav screen as an upcoming "turn". I remember construction doing that before, but not traffic. Could be I just didn't notice, but it is nice.
Glad to have the update. I'll post more when I discover it.

Great news!
I had heard of #2 over on the C7 forum - huge difference they say.
Looking forward to the other improvements.
Need to get scheduled for service so I'll ask for the same thing.

I'm glad you posted this, my A8 is in for its 25k service now. My biggest complaint is the bose sound system, the A6 loner I have sounds much better, so I just called my service adviser to make sure they do this update while they have it.

I have a 2011 A8L. My software version seems to be nowhere near this version. This is what I have under the MMI Version information:
Software version:
HN+R_US_AU_P0409
Navigation database version:
8R0060884AC NAR 5.5.3
Are these the original versions?
Thanks,
Kris

The map database is a different animal. If you have MMI Nav Plus and are in the US, the map updates can only be done by the dealer and will cost $300-400 for them to update. Nav update media can be purchased and done by the owner on some earlier MMI systems.

Thanks for the update. My MMI does not have the Audi connect as there is no SIM card slot, just the two SD card slots. I just purchased the car from a dealer and am bringing it in next week to fix a couple of issues they were not able to complete before I took delivery so I hope they will just update it. I still have 18 months under the new car warranty so hopefully they will cover under that.
I am not interested in the map update, especially at that kind of price.
Thanks
Kris

I just bot a 2011 A8--sport. My MMI version reads 5.4.7. My car is under original warranty
Why wouldn't a dealer update the MMI?
I'm taking it in this week due to a check engine light remaining on. I asked him about the update and he played "dumb"---and said he wasn't sure they were obligated to refresh it

Tell them you are having bluetooth issues and that your stereo has loud pops all the time. Those are two of the reasons to update from what I've heard. I didn't have to ask for anything but all open campaigns.
