From doing it on my ultra low volume D3 W12, if you just get the Bosch branded one, you are probably getting OES for like ⅓ the cost, including same wire connector, color coding and cable length. If your Audi supplied sensor was out of car, there is a way to translate the "long" form product # stamped into the sensor metal to the 5 digit number Bosch's are often listed under. Hopefully reliable on line catalogs are findable/searchable regardless.

Great advice, they are less than $70!

If you are standing in front of the car looking at the engine bay, which side is considered BANK ONE? I have replaced O2 sensors before on other vehicles, but where exactly is this one located (post catalyst bank 1)?

Lastly, I always think of "bank one" as having cylinders 1-4 in it. Cylinders 5-8 are located in "bank two". Is this a correct assumption? If so, I'm not too optimistic about the P2096 code being related to the #5 issue since it is located in a different bank.

C'mon Dave. You've been around here long enough to be as confused as the rest of us about that
.
Looking at the engine with hood open, bank 1 is on the left, putting the O2 sensor on the cat on the right.
.
Bank 1 is the bank that includes the #1 cylinder.

The spark plugs were replaced around 13K/miles ago and I filled up the tank last week at Buckeye's. PLEASE tell me I don't require shims and/or new valve springs! What else could it be?
OK, reading the earlier part of this situation...

Yep, I guess we will skip the seemingly on point TSB about the valve springs/shims that applies to S8+ and specifically a cylinder 5 error (in Bank 2)...let alone the tune.

And no, changing an O2 sensor on Bank 1 (1-4) is realistically not going to do squat on #5 or Bank 2.

P.S. Guessing any of your warranties have clocked out?

Dave, dial back your tune to stock if you can, and run 93. See what happens. If it straightens out, suspect that the tune wasn't quite right for your engine operating parameters.

Good advice, I will see if that is possible. I have four options with my current APR Tune: 91 octane, 93 octane, 100 octane and valet mode.

It's possible if you have the APR tune. You use the cruise control stalk unless you have the optional interface.

Yep, I have the BT dongle that plugs into the OBD2 port (so I can change the tune from my phone). I don't think the 91 octane tune is considered "stock" but I will give it a try later today.

So I set the tune to the 91 octane setting and still got the flashing CEL under moderate-to-heavy acceleration. I put things back to the 93 octane tune and launched it...no flashing CEL, lol. Very inconsistent obviously. What are the odds it is the fuel? Granted it happened during a dyno pull (on Costco 93) in the past, but it seems more common with the full tank of Buckee's 93. Thoughts?

Seems very strange that it flashes on the 91, but not on the 93! Why not try a tank of top tier like Sunoco or Exxon?
.
It might be worth a call to APR; they are pretty knowledgeable and may have a suggestion we haven't thought of.
.
Unfortunately, the fact your VCDS data pointed to cyl #5 isn't very reassuring.
