I used my OBDEleven tool to add efficiency mode to the drive select menu. It makes a pretty big difference. I have noticed the car goes into 4 cylinder mode more readily, the throttle tip-in is much better making it easier for smooth take-offs from the light and it uses the torque for acceleration and doesn't always drop gears to execute a passing maneuver. It has only been a couple of days since I have updated it but my city mpg has gone up by about 3 mpg. I haven't done much highway driving as yet to see if there is as much a difference there.

Definitely less effective in the 4.2 engine. I noticed no difference after a few months of mixed driving.
