Anyone shops in the Georgia area familiar with any of the CarPlay box installs on the D4? If not I might just have to take a weekend and do it myself.

I am going to be installing mine next weekend. I just received my unit in the mail (the WAKAA Brand). I have to wait as I am having my engine overhauled, getting the oil screen bypass kit, water pump replacement all that done at the moment. Just biting the bullet all at once. Anyways. I would be happy to share my experience if I get to it beforehand. I have purchased a removal kit and a body trim removal kit as well. Basically just bought it and am doing some major work on it. Getting rid of the old owner. I chose the Wakaa version because it supports the OEM microphone.
My understanding is that the most difficult part is fitting the unit back in to the car along with the original head unit. You will have to remove trim and will need to read about what specific tools you need for your car. It’s apparently 20 minutes figuring out wiring and 70 minutes of shoving it back in.
I don't think it is possible on the D4 platform. Our cars don't have the required dashboard cluster to produce the graphics. A total retrofit might make a difference, but I've never heard of anyone attempting that and can only imagine that it would be too complicated to be possible.
okay so i have a 2013 A8L and installed the wakaa unit but i cant hear any sound, i think i figured it out from my prior experience. i dont see the "external aux input" option under sources. Instead, i have the "AMI" option. I read somewhere i need to go to the "green menu" like shown here and change it:
