I got the module from www.wakaa.us as recommended by the user Virtualrc, it arrived in 4 days via DHL direct from China, amazing! Paid $269 after a 10% discount, but now there is a 15% discount for a total of $259, can`t beat that price. Will install it this weekend and post the results here. The seller was very helpful, they contacted me to ask the car model and MMI software version before they shipped the module and everything was very well packed.

So I installed it over the weekend and everything works well and it feels like oem carplay, you can`t tell that`s an aftermarket interface, Carplay looks awesome and sound great, I would say it sounds better than Bluetooth streaming. The most complicated part is the wiring nightmare behind the MMI unit, it took me 3 hours to find a way to fit everything back together because of the quadlock connector and also because all wires are tied together with tesa fabric tape, I had to undo the tape and separate every single wire (canbus, fiber, gps and radio wires, lvds wire) to make things easier otherwise it would be impossible. There is a pocket space on the bottom left side where the quadlock connector can go, that`s the only place it it will fit. I placed the module inside the glove box where the cd/dvd changer would go since my car did not come with it, but there is a storage box that can be removed and the module fits perfectly in there, then I ran the usb cable and Wi-Fi antenna underneath the center console side panel all the way to the passenger seat, the Wi-Fi antenna is now under the passenger seat for better reception and the usb cable with the lightning cable just hangs on top of the passenger seat for easy reach when needed it. By the way, I highly recommend to protect and cover the center console and the dashboard black piano trim and very important, disconnect the battery (negative cable) before you start the project since you might want to remove the glove box from inside the car to give you more room (the knee airbag will have to be disconnected, it`s inside the glove box compartment). You`ll need 4 to 7 hours for the installation, it took me longer because of the quadlock connector but knowing now what to do it would take me 4 to 5 hours.

Hi Andy, I already installed it over the weekend, everything works well, feel free to ask me any questions. If you plan to order the module I recommend the one from wakaa.us , right now it`s for $279 and it arrives in 4 days.

So can anyone else still use the MMI and the factory Audi apple connections to use an iPod? Selecting a device connected by Audi usb or Audi lighting connector only plays the aux sound for the CarPlay box. The iPod information still shows on the display though. I guess the CarPlay boxes are completely high jacking the MMI inputs other than Bluetooth?

I`m not sure if it would void the CPO warranty, they wouldn't notice the module unless if there is something wrong with the MMI unit or the glove box airbag and one of the two needs to be removed, everything else in the car would still be covered under CPO I think, especially drive train which has nothing to do with the MMI. The module itself doesn`t even show up in the vcds scan. Think like an audio system upgrade, amp, speakers etc, it has nothing to do with the engine bay components.

I want to confirm that this is a wireless solution (no need to connect the lightening cable to my iPhone to use) AND the wireless connection works seamlessly. My preference would be to have no exposed wires anywhere.
