APR TUNED 2013 A8 - First tuned A8 4.0 in the US?
As many of you probably know APR has released ECU tuning for the S6 and S7 - up to recently no joy for the A8 which has (can have) the same motor.
I had been talking with Arin at APR about tuning the A8 and and the week before Christmas I got the call -APR could do it- they needed the car for two weeks but their Calibrator and Electrical Engineer had the time to dig into the A8's ECU.
To make things even better- Johnny (APR's COO), arranged to meet me and loaned me APR's tuned S7 to drive while they worked on the A8- what a ride!!!
As promised, the A8 was ready to go and we arranged to meet and swap.
AND NOW THE INTERESTING PART
at part throttle you would not know there had been any tinkering- perhaps a little more crispness in throttle response- but get on the gas and its a different story- amazing acceleration- full throttle launch is almost brutal. These guys are amazing-the car is amazing- I may have to buy an R8 now just so they can tune it!
I have programs for 93 and 100 octane plus valet and disable mode. I will be shopping for race fuel next week.

You will never see the same type of increases from a normally-aspirated motor. Turbo motors are the ideal platform for a tune, as judicious increases in boost pressure can yield incredible results.

If you have a Android phone there is an app call Pure Gas.
It shows you gas stations that sell ethanol free gas and there are stations listed that sell 100+ octane fuel at least in my area.
