I have a 2013 S8. I bought the 3 year data package from T mobile. I have never gotten it to run faster than 2G locally. I have always assumed this is because we don't have T-Mobile service here (phone or data) here for purchase. I recently bought a 2014 Allroad for my wife. It gets 3G everywhere! I was told that I may need a new SIM card. It has now been replaced. I still only get 2G in my 2013 S8. Any thoughts?. Thank you.

I wonder if it is not roaming on AT&T like it should ?
Assuming it should roam if you don't have T-Mobile where you are.

May want to compare MMI settings between the two vehicles.

Especially check the access point (APN) settings and make sure they match.

Two longshot suggestions:

There were other posts reporting antenna issues for GPS malfunctions. Could this also affect cell service?

Also, when MMI starts up in a garage or other area without signal, my A8 tries to use the iPhone via Bluetooth, which because of the shielding has limited speeds. I can re-initiate the car cell service by popping the car SIM card out and in again in a covered area.
