Default Any at home tuning solutions available?

Hi everyone -

I am interested in Stage 1 tune for my 2014 S8. Are there any Accessport type tuning solutions available for it? The APR dealership is quite a hike from my house. I had a Cobb Accessport on my Focus ST that was great. Someone had mentoined GIAC tuning may have a home installation device available. Does anyone have experience with that?

Thanks!

ABT and MTM both have expensive tuning products - one is plug and play. APR can remotely deliver their reprogram but I think they prefer to use "certified" shops to do the flash.

i had the vey first 4.0 ApR tune in my 2013 A8L (for than engine config) and it was great.

im now in your boat - looking for a tune for my S8 plus. APR did not have a tune 6 months ago when I got it but VIVID racing carries a piggy back that just realeased a S8 plus tune - they also have tuning boxes for your model this is a piggy back pug and pay solution - I have seen the box and it's well built with good quality connectors that match well with the various sensors- how sophisticated this type of setup is , I can not say - the only sure way would be tnstall and Dyno with a wideband.

The most common solution for S8 in USA is APR. APR dealer installed flash—which blows warranty if detected during service. I know Cobb from Mini (since discontinued), and nothing common like it (handheld flash unit) for D4. If you search extensively, may find some Euro ones for big bucks and slim to no US following. Sometimes hard to pin down to S8 specific version too, and especially Plus. A few people who have tried piggybacks have had mixed results, one specifically on a modded D4 A8 4.0T who pulled it after a few too many detonation scares. Hard to separate placebo from real, and those vendors have often not published any dyno data.

S8 Plus and std S8 seem to be same underlying tune as far as final output numbers, at least what folks reported from RS7 std vs RS7 competition. That is, Plus itself just seems to be a mild factory tune, so aftermarket tune gets to same place. No direct experience on S8 tune to be clear; synthesizing posts from C7 boards here and Audizine where there are a lot more frequent tunes posts.
