...no mention of 4.2 V8 models in the Guide---gives one a halting pause for the moment! My dealer also indicated that there are no D4 4.2 V8 cars shown in the Audi ordering system as of this morning; only 3.0T versions. He has not received any info regarding the availability of the V8 for the A8/A8L.

Good news is that there is now an option for A8/A8L all-season 265x40x20 tires on the 20" wheel option. :^)

Just curious. My 2012 arrives week of April 2.

No V8 in the Audi flagship? It really does make one pause and wonder what they're thinking over there. Maybe the order guides are coming out in phases?

I heard it will be last year for the 4.2. My dealership is claiming they will have a 4.0 (v8) twin turbo drive train coming out.

I have heard the same. Only other difference is the A8 will have Stop/Start technology in the V6. But If you want a V8 you will have to fork up extra $$$ for an S8. I still have not heard anything different. If the weight of the smaller V6 will compensate for the lesser HP, Than its 6 in one, OTHERWSISE, IMO many will see the A8 as an underpowerd car. I did hear, however, that a TDI be available later in the year. Its hard for me to imagine a big Lux sedan, especially the LWB, not having atleast a V8. Seems kinda weird. Dont know how well this will fly.
