Default 1st Year complete with used 2014 S8...

Hey guys,

Just wanted to chime in. This year I have racked up about 20k miles, 1 trackday, 2 speeding tickets, and an enhanced disdain for lack of lane discipline on the US interstate system in the first year of ownership. The odometer currently shows 60,xxx miles, I guess perhaps that is the break-in period. The car has been great, I couldn't be happier. The only faults have been the dreaded 1k/3k vibration, the rear parcel shelf rattle and one of the "jack pads" has fallen off. This is not my daily, I use her specifically for roadtrips, typically in the winter up to Quebec and all the way down to Miami, with the occasional trips in-between and out west. Can confirm that traveling an hour at 100mph indeed covers 100 miles, and fuel mileage drops significantly at any speed sustained above 85mph. But now the kids are out of school and everyone is on vacation, so in the driveway she sits until the fall, somewhat of a shame, but something to look forward to. Before committing to the S8 I had test driven a Bentley Flying Spur and with the exception of the leather quality (and bookended wood trim) the D4 S8 has delivered an equal, actually a better driving experience with less fanfare, and cost but with a below radar execution. Having come from a tuned C5 RS6 the acceleration of a tuned S8 is sublime, the only thing lacking perhaps would be the steering feel and suspension (as technology seeks to fix things that were not broken and make things marginally more convenient, it manages to introduce a whole host of other problems that just never seemed to exist before.) So I will resist digressing. The point of this post is to welcome newcomers to the fold and to perhaps gain a few people on the purchase fence because at the end of the day it is about comfortably compressing time and distance, is it not? and the D4 S8 delivers.

Thanks for the post - continues to whet my appetite. I just purchased a new 2017 S8+ off the lot but haven't driven it much as I wait to get my paint correction/clear bra guy (will do Ceramic coating as well) to finish his work - will pickup end of the month. Anyway nice to hear how happy you are and that it is in the same league as the Flying Spur.

How much did you increase the massage intensity - goes 1 to 5 now, what is new range; and are there any potential issues with doing this? Is there a noticeable difference?

Does the "disabled amber corner lights" replace the amber color with a white light (you are talking about the front corners, correct)? I manually swapped out the amber for white front side markers on my Cayman GTS and it looked much better.

What is "final wipe"?

Will any dealer perform these changes? Thanks!
