Wheel bearing replacement cost?
Just curious, what's the typical cost of a wheel bearing replacement at the dealer? I've been quoted approx $1000 for one, which seems awful high … especially since this seems somewhat common for these cars?

Seems way high, but possible at a dealer.
Or plan B, just buy the bearing yourself and go to an indy wheel and brake shop willing to install it. Did that on my C5; bearing was in low $100 range for good Euro quality (***, SK, etc.) and a few hours labor max. If shop will only do it with their parts, insist on knowing brand name (as in, no China manufactured junk). Cheapest if you happen to be doing brakes (including rotors) on the same axle at the same time. Make sure anyone who does it has the necessary press set up to deal with the hub. You can mess up the new bearing if it isn't properly supported; BTDT. A typical wheel and brake shop should see these a lot and know the job.
