Default What are your thoughts on this S8?

I have been looking for months now and I thought I found the perfect one a while back but it sold even before the dealer could post up pics

I have to settle for one at least I am going to get one with the options that I want (CF,Ext Leather, B&O, gray or black)

Only issue I have is the Carfax shows the Audi dealer put it up for auction at under 30k miles, might be a red flag....but it was driven to 80k+ miles after that so maybe any issues were fixed. What do you think.

Car has 81k on it so I am not sure how it was driven 80k+ after it was auctioned off. Either way the car looks clean and if you get it inspected and it is good to go then scoop it up. Price seems a tad high for the mileage but people are starting to realize how good these cars are and it is still only 30 cents on the dollar which is a wicked depreciation.

It was auctioned at 30,000 miles, then driven to 80,000+.

I came across this one in Chicago recently....private party, $21900.....104K miles, looks clean, has everything you want except CF. Afer I looked at it closer, they have upgraded the steering wheel....is that a new S8 wheel? I don't know what it comes out of, and the start switch is a newer stainless one.

It's right near me, if you were interested, I would be happy to look at it for you if you are serious.

Looks nice but if I were in the market I'd take a hard look at this one in Illinois. It has a Rebuilt Title but has everything you're wanting (CF,Ext Leather, B&O, gray or black). I'd check it out in person. Drive it checking for rattles, squeaks and handling, and take it to an Audi dealer to get the full background on the repairs and PPI.

It's a PFL S8 but is $11,000 less than the one your looking at in MA. It's all a gamble though.

Good luck.

Good luck.

That one also has adaptive cruise control, which the others don't.

I am only looking at 08-09 models. In Autotrader there are 18 and earlier this year I remember seeing 25+. They keep getting more and more scarce!

That black one looks sexy, but I dont think it has heated steering wheel. In Maryland that would be a plus!

The biggest red flag on that one to me is that the place selling it is advertising themselves as a body shop first. Cars sold at places like that can be in a pretty bad accident without it appearing on the Carfax. Makes me nervous.

The take-away's I see are: 1) That car should have been a CPO and resold on an Audi dealer lot with that few miles. Why was it auctioned? 2) Why were the motor mounts and upper control arms replaced at only 13,900 miles? Also, the suspension was serviced along with 2 tires being mounted. This leads me to believe the car was damaged, perhaps heavily by running over something or ending up in a ditch. It's a gorgeous looking car and has that kick-*** B&O audio, but those Car Fax reports make me wonder.
