MMI optical issue or electrical?
Hi!
I made a topic in the Q7 section but since I've seen that people get more help in this subforum and this is a pretty general question, I'll try here too... 2 days ago my other cars (Q7) MMI stopped working properly. It starts (shows the logo) and then shuts down (Optical loop issue probably). Did the VCDS scan today and the results are:
Did the optical loop scan and it came up with this:
I've searched the forums and I'm thinking that the Bose Amp might be broken but so far the other scans I found showed errors for both Sound System checks (Electrical and optical).
Before I take it to the stealership to see whats wrong can anyone confirm this or have any idea what's the case here?

Looks like you are right about amplifier. Start with checking fiber-optic connection there. Next would be loop to bypass it and see if all other modules become accessible. The last would be eBay amplifier. No dealer if there is any chance.

Also check for water incursion from drains and the the purple stain issue.

What is the malfunction on the RRD ? Makes me suspicious of water...

Looks like I have to take apart the luggage area... Water damage might be the case since I have the panoramic roof and these are known for their unreliability in keeping the water outside of the car.
Had an issue in autumn I think where after a car wash the sound system stopped working but everything else was working and the MMI came on nicely. Rebooting, leaving the car parked for a while, etc nothing worked until at some point during the drive in the evening it started working again. No symptoms other than stuck on "mute". I had a look at the amp then and it seemed fine outside, no water marks anywhere and since it seemed like a pain to get it fully out I didn't check any further.
Worked fine so far but the issue occurred after the car had been parked for a few hours.
Not sure what the Optical Bus Diagnostics means by "electrical" and "optical" categories exactly but I'd assume that this isn't a power issue since "electrical" is checked as OK. I'll have a look at the fuse anyway just to be sure.
By RRD I assume You mean the rear door malfunction?
Since Q7's also have typical issues with the keyless system, then the door handle lock buttons don't work. No easy fix and I'm not willing to pay 200€ for each door handle just to lock it without having to push the button on the key fob. Keyless entry works fine so I can live with this.
Are those optical fiber loops available at dealerships as well? Since stuff from ebay gets here in about a week I'd rather take it apart first to see if the amp has any water damage.
