Default TPMS Warning

Have an '04 A8L and am now receiving the flat tire warning icon everytime I drive the car. It frequently disappears after 30 to 40 minutes of driving but will randomly reappear.
Car is now out of warranty (naturally) and so I haven't bothered to take it into the dealer since it doesn't affect driveability. I've now turned off the warning through the MMI. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
If this is a frequent topic of discussion, I apologize as I tried searching for a topic but didn't get a hit.
Thanks in advance.

Default I have the same problem

Consensus is dead battery in tpms sensor. Here's the thread that I started when mine started acting up.

Annoying TPMS

It's likely a sensor battery that's almost dead.

Seems like it. Thanks for the thread. Now I need to determine if this is something that I can replace, or if I need to have a dealer or a tire shop do the work. Thanks again!

Dan, any idea what that would cost out of warranty? I know labor rates vary around the country, so a rough order of magnitude number would be fine. What would Suncoast charge?

My OEM one(s) have failed in my 2004 factory tires. The four transmitters in my "winter" tires/wheels that came from Tire Rack are fine. They were $80 each.

Once the one in my OEM spare goes.. I have a decision to make. Then again, the VDO tire gauge that I grew up with works pretty good. So does the digital "Accu-Tire" that I got free at a trade show. I think they sell for $20 or $30.
