Default TPMS Issues

Looking for a little friendly advice: My 2007 S8 was parked all winter and now none of the TPM Sensors are giving a reading and as a result I have warning lights on the dash. I've tried resetting the system thru the menu but no luck. Is this something I have to go to a dealer to fix? Do the sensors have batteries that need to be replaced or do you just replace the entire sensor? Trying to avoid an hour drive to the local dealer and the expense if possible. Any information would be helpful. Thank YOU

I had this issue? Battery in one or all TPMS sensors are dead. Buy new sensors and have them installed and you should be good.

.

Think they were 189.00 delivered and Discount Tire charged 40.00 to install all four.
Should be good for another 5 - 6 years.

Default May just be one, though w/ a 2007, "Time's up"

It may just be one bad sensor. If any single sensor fails, the whole system reads blank and the warning light goes on. With VAG COM/VCDS you can see exactly which one it is, and the estimated battery life of each.

But, w/ a 2007, it is literally just time for the proverbial goose to be cooked. They have an estimated life of 6 - 6 ½ years. About what I got out of mine too.

all of the sensors on my 05 a8l were not working. you can go into the MMI and temporarily store the current preasures, but about 10 miles later, the HUD light comes on again showing a flat tire.

I used vag-com to go in and just turned off the tpms as I do not intend to replace them. it was easy to do and immediate.

being I live in California, the weather does not have the same influx on the pressure or tires that maybe some other place that has 4 seasons, instead of 1.5 seasons.

Four sensors plus installation are around $250. That's less than a single tire that would be lost if it gets flat and you don't find it out immediately.

Having them is also a law.

And the last, disabling one by one feature you will pretty soon level A8 with Chevy Impala.

certainly not going to disable everything, and cant speak to the law thing about them here in the usa...

but I have them as 168+tax/ea here at audi, and an additional $23/ea if the stems need to be replaced and then have to pay to have them installed.

that is why I didn't do them, couldn't justify 1500+.

but if they could be done $250USD, that would be hands-down, un-questionable...if you could share your source.

For $168. You can buy all four from the Internet. On the mobile app I get errors trying to search, or I'd search and provide it to you. Search for TPMS it's covered where to get them in previous threads. I don't understand why some would disable such a safety feature as Inexpensive as it is to replace the sensors.

I don't want to see the errors, and for $1500, I was not going to replace them...so I disabled it.

that obviously ruffles some feathers...

in any case, if it is only a couple hundred, ill get it done asap...and to the un-ruffling, re-enable that alert so that it works.

you see, when you know they are bad, you don't need to be reminded.

thanks for the plug. Ill do the search. I usually am on mobile too so have errors as well.

ok, found a link to http://www.oewheelsllc.com/ through a post by Mishar at https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...77&postcount=2

just purchased 5 TPMS sensors, shipped for $240 for my 05 A8L

at that price, rather than the stealership, even if I pay another $100 to have them put in, is unquestionable.
