If tell me they are going to start by replacing the sensors, I'd simply say no. I know the sensors work and if one has a bad battery, it would show up on the display as not registering. I think the problem is elsewhere, but I have no idea where the other components are. I understand there is a TPMS module, but I image there is an antenna by each wheel - it has to be that or an antenna that can pick up the direction of the signal.

Do the Bentley manuals cover this or have others been through this and can describe the procedure?

Only procedure without VCDS scan is replacing parts randomly, including sensors.

OK, but what parts and Where are they? That's why I asked about the manual. I would just as soon not do this blind.

Also, if a VCDS scan can pin point the problem why wouldn't the dealer do that? You indicated that they would randomly replace parts as well.

This may help. Module is under the rear bench.

Good question about dealers. No good answer, but randomly replacing parts happened to many guys here.

I'll give it more time and then decide if I bring it to the dealer or love with it.
My thought process was to see if everything was still set correctly - eliminate the obvious first assuming there are no DTCs.
Considering these sensors are not OEM we have no way of knowing their quality.
Although Audi is proud of their prices, something that sells for 1/4 the cost may only last 1/4 as long.

Since you do not have VCDS or Bentley/elsaWin/erWin a trip to the dealer may be the only recourse.
Requesting help in the VCDS forum may get you a lead on someone to scan the vehicle for you.
Going to the dealer armed with information generally leads to a smaller repair bill.

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps it time to get the VCDS. I take it that I order the cable and then I can download the software? http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html

That's the way to do it, you will really not regret the cost of the cable, it will save you a pile more in the future.

Patience was the right advice. TPMS is working again. Not sure why, but I ain't complaining.

Quick note to everyone in the thread... You can check the estimated remaining battery life of each sensor through the measuring blocks in vag-com.

I considered replacing my sensor until they displayed 60+ months of life left.

Yeah, TPMS sensors are definitely not something you want to proactively replace unless one dies, then might as well order 4 and replace them all at once. You are correct, you can tell the estimated months left in the measuring blocks section of VCDS. The measuring blocks portion of VCDS is greatly helpful in many other scenarios as well.
